It appears England fans are determined to follow Roy’s Boys to Brazil.
Following England's qualifying match against Poland last night, searches for flights to Brazil enjoyed a huge spike in interest.
In fact Cheapflights.co.uk reported that flight searches to Brazil were up an eye-watering 891 per cent compared with the same time last year.
Next summer’s World Cup is
clearly going to be a huge draw for UK travellers. While flight searches
soared during the first half of the England vs Poland match, Rooney’s
goal in the 41st minute, and the half time break saw two further huge
increases in searches: in the dramatic hour between 9-10pm, interest in
flights from England to Brazil rose by a staggering 1,711 per cent.
“Now that Roy’s Boys have booked their tickets to Brazil we’re expecting a scramble for fans trying to book their seats on the plane," said Cheapflights.co.uk spokesperson, Ben Rosier.
"We’re already seeing
unprecedented interest in getting hold of flights for next summer’s
World Cup and we’d advise fans looking for flights to compare prices and
book early to get the best deals.”
Currently flights to Brazil sit around the £600-700 mark but a quick search for flights in June next year reveals the cheapest to cost well over £800.
Next month, the Brazilian tourism board Embratur is to open three tourism offices in the U.S., part of a larger initiative to open 13 tourism offices worldwide as the country prepares to host the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Flights from the UK to Brazil take around 14 hours and most international visitors arrive at Rio de Janeiro International Airport and Sao Paulo's Aeroporto Internacional de Guarulhos.
If last night's match was anything to go by, a steady stream of Brits will be heading to Rio next June.
